My inspiration to paint comes from a desire to tell stories. I think of worlds to build and use colors to do it. The visuals speak and convey great emotional content. I feel people view art uniquely and get different meanings, I enjoy engaging this reaction from folks.

The various shades of blue in the ribbons and leaves of the frame make for an interesting aesthetic. It’s a beautiful contrast to the silver metallic finish on the wood slats that form a three dimensional effect that brings your eye to the abyss.

Hollye really challenges our imagination with this painting of the Queen of Cups. The rather ordinary plaid shirt contrasts with that magnificent feathered cape. The symbol of strength and power represented by the scepter juxtaposed with the teardrops emanating from her left eye that possibly speaks to her vulnerability. And the divergence of the striking jewelry that dons her neck and the humble doo rag that adorns her hair.

CUISINE
Hollye approaches her cooking the same way she approaches her painting; with an honest expression of love for her heritage. Her cuisine could be characterized as comfort food but it demonstrates her mindfulness of the importance of healthy eating.
